North-west from the Batack Town and 21km from the Velingrad City is the “Batack” Reservoir situated. It was filled up in 1958 as a replacement of the “Batashkoto” Swamp. Its altitude is 1 100 meters. Its length is about 9km, maximum depth – 34m. The average annual temperature on the surface of the water is between 13.6?C and 17.4?C. It is perfect place for relaxation during the all four seasons. The mountain resort itself possesses good lodging base with all kinds of comfort as well as many restaurants and cafes. Around this reservoir there are small settlements possessing 10 000 beds: Cigov Chark, Selce and St. Konstantin. They also offer perfect relaxation during the all four seasons. These small settlements offer canoes, fishing boats, water-wheels and motor yachts as well as fishing equipment. It is also an excellent place for fishing – there you can catch perch, grey mullet, as well as some large species- carp and sheat-fish. It is one of the few Bulgarian reservoirs where the real fishermen can feel the thrill of catching a real trophy. For the may-fly fans in the close proximity of this reservoir there is another one called “Goliam Beglick” which is very suitable for trout fishing and along the river outfall you can catch river grey mullet. It is also suitable for swimmer and bottom fishing. This region as a whole has rich flora and fauna, many beautiful places suitable for picnic parties. There are relics of the past which altogether with the reservoirs and water resources are the perfect conditions for the development of this place as a tourist destination and sport fishing.

“DOSPAT” RESERVOIR

“Dospat” Reservoir is situated in the middle of the fabulous Rodopi Mountain, next to the Dospat Town, about 82km west from the Smolian City. Its altitude is 1 200 meters which means it is the highest reservoir in our country. It is spread on 22 000 decares water area which means it is in the second place in volume capacity. It belongs to so-called middle-mountainous reservoirs. It was formed in 1967 by barring Dospat River. Its maximum length is 16.6km and its maximum depth is -53m. The average annual temperature on the surface of the water is 10.2?C.  The beautiful nature around the reservoir is a perfect place for tourist activity. The reservoir is surrounded by centuries-old spruce and pine tree forests and opposite are the high slopes of the west part of the Rodopi Mountain with houses in it.
There is plenty of fish in the reservoir. Perch, grey millet, local trout and brook as well as large carp swim there. There have excellent conditions for sport and economic fishing. You can practice many kinds of fishing: using swimmer, on bottom, using may-fly on a cord. There are other reservoirs in the close proximity of this one – “Vacha”, “Sarnica”, “Shiroka Poliqna”.

The close proximity of the reservoir to the Dospat Town as well as the lush nature suggests brilliant possibilities for good relaxation and tourism. You can enjoy surfing, yachting, row boating, water skiing there. The mountaineers can pick mushrooms, forest fruits or herbs. The big mountain fans can make a march to “Sarnitsa”, to “Beslet” Peak, to “Chernivrah” Peak, to “Malka Sjutka” or “Goliama Sjutka”.

“GOLIAM BERLICK” RSERVOIR

Its length is 7km., max.depth is – 43m, water’s surface during the summer is 22?C. “Goliam Berlick” Reservoir is situated in the central parts of the gorgeous Rodopi Mountain.  Together with “Batak” Reservoir, “Beglika” Reservoir, “Shiroka Poliana” Reservoir they form some of the main tourist locations in the Batashki micro region. There is a wide variety of game on its territory and on the territory of “Goliam Berlick” Reservoir. You can meet big mammal species (bears, deer, foxes, wolves, wild boars), small mammal species (rabbits, hedgehogs, squirrels) and plenty of wild ducks and geese all around the water parts of the reservoir. All the conditions for sport tourism with its good traditions of that region are available. If you want to make a fantastic march then it should start from the vigorous stone breast of the Trigradskite Rocks, walking trough the majestic softness of the relief around Gela Village and finish where the paradise silence of the Goliam Berlick Reservoir is. It is surrounded by impressive forests and beautiful places suitable for picnic parties. The reservoir is good enough for trout sport fishing.

“SHIROKA POLIANA” RESERVOIR

The reservoir is situated about 30 kilometers far from the “Batak” Reservoir and is part of the cascade: Dospat, Shiroka Poliana, Vasil Kolarov, Beglicka, and Batak. Shiroka Poliana is an alpine reservoir but it is quite shallow. It is due to the fact that it is spread over an original slab which very rarely exceeds 7-8 meters. There are exceptions only where the gullies are. They are around the dams where the depth gets really profound.
Some years ago Shiroka Poliana was very famous with its great number of carps. Nowadays however the reserves of that fish are under the critical minimum. At this moment the main objects of sport fishing are the perch, the brook and the grey mullet. During the past two years the carassius was bred. Nevertheless the lose of fish in this reservoir it is still one the favorite places of the fishermen for tent relaxing.
The perch and the grey mullet are in abundance in the reservoir and practically they can be caught all around it. The brook that can reach the tremendous weight of 2kg in this reservoir inhabits mostly the deeper places around the gulfs.
You can fish using swimmers as well as bottom fishing rod. The trout baits on swimmer as well as flash. They are not plenty and you can not count on the quantity but at the expenses of it if you happen to catch a trout the representatives will be qualitative.
Shiroka Poliana is a preferable place for fishermen because you can fish using may-flies on a cord.  The grey mullet has the biggest population in the reservoir and that is why the „flyers” have success almost every time.

“VACHA” RESERVOIR 

“Vacha” Reservoir is situated near Pazardjick City. It represents a part of cascade reservoirs belonging to Vacha River. It is one of the biggest reservoirs in Bulgaria. What is peculiar to this reservoir is that it is difficult of access because it is situated in a natural defile of the river. This means it is a precondition for rich fish reserve. Some years ago people used to breed carp and trout in artificial way but nowadays the breeding-pool are turned into attractive drifting houses.

 We can successfully catch there almost every kind of fishes – carp, grey mullet, sheat-fish, white fish, perch, trout, barbell.
The reservoir possesses very good reserves of trophy predators – sheat fish, white fish, perch which are mostly preferred by the fishermen. There are some legends about sheat-fishes over 100kg lying around the dam.
It is also very likely to catch white fishes over 6-7kg and the perches reaches up to 3kg. The best way to catch perches is from a boat seeking for a nock with the appropriate sizes.
The reservoir is very suitable as a tourist destination where you can enjoy the pleasure of sport fishing.
